Team Switchboard is made up of an incredible group of individuals who get it done. We’re excited for you to meet our fantastic team. This week, we’re featuring Elan Paris, our rockstar Associate.

Tell us a little about yourself…

I’m a Vancouver local with a background in content marketing. I’ve worked on accounts in various industries, including fin-tech, health-tech, blockchain, cybersecurity and more. I’m a self-starter by nature and have always had a passion for communications, business, strategy, being creative and achieving results. In my spare time, I’m usually hanging out with friends, taking an online spin class, or spending time with my two golden retrievers!

What do you love about working at Switchboard?

I love that my colleagues are so smart and passionate about what they do—it really shows when we’re working together on projects. The clients are another part about working at Switchboard that I love, when you’re working in PR for the tech industry there will never be a dull day!

What motivates you to work hard?

Setting BHAGs (big hairy audacious goals) is what motivates me to work hard. I love setting challenges for myself and seeing if I can achieve big goals. So far in my life it has been working out, but it’s not easy!

What books are you reading right now and do you have a book that has had a lasting impact?

A favourite book would be too hard to pick so I’ll just let you know what I’m currently reading. I’m reading a book called “Trust Me, I’m Lying” by Ryan Holiday, it’s about fake news and media literacy.

Tell us three interesting facts about you…

  1. I’ve been to the Amazon rainforest.
  2. I can essentially quote Legally Blonde line-by-line.
  3. In 2018, I went to EDC in Las Vegas and had an artist wristband because I was a marketing intern at an EDM record label.

If you could eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be and why?

This is a tough one but I would probably have to say sushi!

  1. If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?

Assuming that I could magically change the season to summer time, I would spend the day with my best friends at a cabin and go to the beach!

Besides the necessities, what one thing could you not go a day without?

Music for sure. I can’t imagine trying to do heads-down work without listening to lo-fi beats or being forced to work out listening to myself breathing!
