Team Switchboard is made up of an incredible group of individuals who get it done. We’re excited for you to meet our fantastic team. This month, we’re featuring Courteney Lee, our very talented summer student from Simon Fraser’s Public Relations program. We’re proud to announce that Courteney has joined us full-time as a communications coordinator.
Tell us a little about yourself…
I am a recent public relations graduate. Prior to starting my program, I was a Chartered Professional Accountant and had previously worked as an audit manager and a financial analyst. My love of writing and working with people inspired me to switch to a career in public relations.
I love travelling, photography and the outdoors and can often be found hiking or snowboarding in the mountains.
What do you love about working at Switchboard?
I love working with such a dedicated and inspiring team of women! I also love all the challenges and learning opportunities that come with the work and clients.
What motivates you to work hard?
Working with a team of hardworking, like-minded people and having the opportunity to make a difference.
What is your favourite book?
I love mysteries and thrillers so my favourite would be anything by Gillian Flynn or Stephen King.
What is your proudest accomplishment?
My proudest accomplishment is hiking the W trek over four days. It was definitely the most challenging thing I’ve ever done, second being writing my final CPA exam eight hours a day for three days.
Tell us three interesting facts about you…
- I have been to every continent except for Antarctica
- I figure skated competitively as a child
- I often travel solo and have spent months travelling on my own
If you could eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be and why?
Definitely sushi, there are so many different kinds and its relatively healthy
If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?
Spending the day on the water, snorkelling and/or diving. I love the ocean and marine life.
Besides the necessities, what one thing could you not go a day without?
Coffee! Even when I’m on vacation I need a cup to start my day.
