Over the last six years, Switchboard’s rapid growth has extended from our head office in Vancouver, British Columbia to expand across North America. The firm is growing and looking to add a Strategic Communications Consultant to the team with five to seven years of agency and client service experience. We’re currently working a hybrid approach. The work pace is fast, and we require an uber-smart, detail-oriented, ultra-organized and motivated candidate who loves to work with innovators, industry experts and media to defy challenges, share stories and make headlines.

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills. You’ll need to be comfortable interacting with senior management and high-profile clients
  • Proven track record of solid client management and leadership. You can confidently act as a trusted strategic advisor to counsel and guide both your clients and your colleagues in innovative ideas and smart decision-making
  • Media relations success. You have multiple connections in media, in-depth knowledge of the media ecosystem and extensive experience to know how to connect to craft and sell in pitches
  • Government awareness. You have an understanding of government processes  and how to navigate them for your clients 
  • Superior project management. Tracking budgets, tasks and deliverables is second nature to you
  • Dynamic self-starter. Ability to work autonomously on multiple projects simultaneously while effectively prioritizing and hitting your deadlines
  • New business development success. You can spot and sell in new business opportunities that fit the firm’s portfolio and client’s needs
  • In the know. Understanding and awareness of the technology landscape and government relations which affect it, provincially, nationally and internationally 
  • PR rock star without the ego but with a ‘can-do attitude. Educational background in communications, social or behavioural sciences. High energy, enthusiasm, sense of humour and a passion for all things technology

Compensation and location:

  • Three weeks paid vacation and summer hours with every Friday off from 12:00 p.m. onwards for July and August 
  • Benefits include committed leadership with coaching and mentoring, regular training events to expand your skills, full health benefits package, generous professional development allowance ($2,500 base), fun team get-togethers, partial payment of mobile and home internet costs, new business commission, and the occasional awesome surprise 
  • This position is open in Vancouver or Toronto
